JOB TITLE: MACHINIST & OPERATOR

(1^st shift 4-day work week with minimal OT on rare occassions)
Reports To: Sprocket Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Associate will operate various equipment within a “job shop” environment as well as a diverse background in manufacturing. Able to change and adapt to an ever-evolving manufacturing environment, within a small fast-paced organization. This position requires familiarity with CNC setup, programing, and operation of equipment. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and take knowledge to produce quality tight tolerance parts as required. Must be able to read calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment. Understanding speeds & Feeds. Have effective communication skills. Must be self-motivated. Must be willing to do other work duties as required. Primary responsibility is to ensure the right parts are prepared and delivered to the QC department in a timely manner, while minimizing cost, optimizing efficiency, and enhancing customer satisfaction.

EXPERIENCE & RESPONSIBILITITIES:

• Should have experience operating manual lathes, drill press, horizontal and vertical band saw.
• Experience with programing and setting up CNC lathes.
• Ability to set-up and operate 3 Axis CNC machining centers that can face, drill, tap, pocket, slot, bore, and thread.
• Able to calculate and measure OD, ID, depths, hold diameter, angle, flatness, and thickness.

LEVEL 1:

• Assists higher level operators focused on learning on the job operator’s daily tasks including but not limited to check parts in process and problem solving.
• Able to apply 5s Methodology aiming to create and maintain an organized, safe, clean and efficient workplace.
• Able to tag identification on parts, read gauges, and record data on control plan according to Quality Control Standards.
• Responsible for following safety standards established by Ramsey.
• Report production quantities accurately and according to the company’s recording process.
• Able to meet efficiency standards.
• Able to run mills, lathes, and drill presses.
• Qualified to run 2 to 4 different machines in the department.

LEVEL 2:

• Fully able to perform Level 1 tasks.
• Read prints and technical drawings.
• Consistently apply 5s Methodology aiming to create and maintain an organized, safe, clean and efficient workplace.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining various types of machine equipment including manual and some CNC machines.
• Strong skills in advanced shop math calculations, interrupting tolerances and dimensions, and using precision measuring instruments.
• Able to meet efficiency standards.
• Qualified to run 4 to 8 different machines in the department.

LEVEL 3:

• Fully able to perform Level 2 tasks.
• Able to complete complex setup of 3 and 5 axis machines without assistance.
• Ensure the Presses are operating according to Quality, Delivery and Cost KPI’s and working on solutions if the KPI’s are not met.
• Responsible for training Level 1 and 2 Operators.
• Enforce, implement and improve Ramsey safety procedures.
• Enforce, implement and improve 5s Methodology.
• Enforce, implement and improve Continuous Improvement.
• Enforce, implement and improve Quality Standards.
• Ensure accuracy in quality and quantity of all daily production and parts leaving the Department.
• Able to meet efficiency standards.
• Qualified to run all different machines in the department.
• Able to manage lead responsibilities when required or in the absence of the lead.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Experience machine operator, or related field.
• Ability to use deductive reasoning and sound decision making.
• Ability to multi-task
• Highly organized and efficient in daily tasks
• Ability to meet quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent job attendance history
